The main subject in this painting is the figure of a man doing martial arts. The art of Silat or Pencak Silat is one of the self-defense arts for the Malays or the archipelago that has been practised since centuries ago, and it is also one of the Malay cultures since time immemorial. Those who study silat are called pesilat. Silat is also known as a self-defense system that uses a lot of locks, whether it's nerve locks or body parts.
The term 'dead lock' is synonymous with silat. The age is becoming more modern, the creation of various modern technologies that can overcome the power of the past, one of which is a firearm that can overcome the power of martial arts, namely the one in this painting is the M4A1 firearm that is used in Malaysia now. It has been seen that the modernity of technology that is becoming more advanced is shown from the passage of time that is becoming more modern. In this painting, it is emphasized that the art of silat cannot be swallowed up by the times, even if there is new technology that can overcome the art of silat, because it is one of the previous Malay culture that should be continued.
