Linocut print on mixed media paper

"In my artistic practice, I explore the fluid boundaries of identity, belonging, and resistance through mixed media expressions, primarily using watercolors, linoleum, and digital illustration. Central to my work is the examination of systemic power, intergenerational relationships, queerness, pleasure, and decolonizing our connection with nature. With a lens tinted by humor and curiosity, I engage in chisme - a pursuit of connection and understanding that transgresses social norms.

My process begins with quick sketches, allowing intuition to guide initial expressions before venturing into various mediums to enrich the narrative. Inspired by my experiences in the Venezuelan diaspora, my art echoes the complexities of loss, grief, and love, amidst the ruptures and reunions of diasporic life. My stubbornness to persist brings together both my artistic praxis and my very survival.

As I grapple with questions of belonging beyond political borders, I turn to nature and indigenous wisdom, seeking to reshape our understanding of pleasure, accountability, and community. Through my art, I aim to evoke recognition, reflection, and wonder, creating spaces where nuance is embraced and offering solace and solidarity to those who engage. I hope that my audience resonates with a drive to pursue justice and unite in the celebration of resistance and belonging."
