Light my fire / n. 02 08 22
100 x 100 cm (h x w)
Acrylics, plaster and charcoal on a wooden panel

"Light my fire" - let my light shine - an easy phrase to say and yet there is so much beauty in it. Letting someone's light shine shows so much human intelligence and generosity. What could be more beautiful than letting someone shine completely selflessly? Likewise, this light shines even in the darkest night, almost like the warming and comforting glow of a candle. This painting was created by Vera Jochum on a 2 cm thick Mdf wood panel using mixed media. As with all her paintings, Vera attaches great importance to the design of the individual areas of colour to give them a special depth. Light my fire" was also built up in this way in many layers, mainly using the palette knife technique. Her style is characterised by the way the lines and seemingly random scribbles lead the viewer's gaze across the picture like seismographic traces.

Vera Jochum, fine art
I am an artist living in Germany and my paintings have been shown in several solo exhibitions nationwide and internationally. In my art I process what is on my mind as well as my personal feelings and also my chaos. I describe my artistic practice as a constant process of construction and destruction, creating new perspectives in each layer until each work reaches its final state.
Stylistically, I can be categorised as an abstract expressionist, but I don't commit myself to this. Whatever inspires, stimulates and occupies me can be found in my paintings. Textures, colours, shapes, movements and spaces - I capture all of this in my paintings.
