Lizzie Myers is an oil painter. Her works comprise primarily of closely observed portraits and still life compositions and her delight is found in the depth of colour and luscious qualities that oil paint provides, it’s forgiving nature and the way it can carry or omit the passage of light as it falls on and around the subject.
Lizzie has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists in London and throughout the South West.
After studying Fine Art at Plymouth University, she has been working as an artist from her studio on a rural farm in Somerset.

I use oil paint to translate my feelings to the canvas each day. The paint is luscious, beautiful and I am often astonished at what comes out of the end of my brush - by the way different colours vibrate against each other, or how the light is falling on and around each object - the bonus of occasional unexpected outcomes are always a joy.
I find a welcome peace and meditation in the application of the paint, finding the quiet passages of calm and understanding, the beauty in cracked and peeling paint or crinkled skin, the glaze of an old pot - there is passion and life to be found everywhere, there is a story in there.

Self-portrait of artist depicted as Medusa the gorgon. The sea god Poseidon seduced the mortal Medusa in the Temple of Athena and raped her. Athena, goddess of heroic endeavour and war, mightily aggrieved by the act taking place in her Temple and defiling it, and took vengeance upon Medusa, turning her hair into snakes and everything Medusa gazed upon to stone.
