Somewhere In-between
poetry and collage

"San Francisco native Marcia Moonstar began writing poetry as a teenager and has performed her work in coffeehouses, bookstores, and at many women’s events through-out the Northwest with her unique style of performance, which has grown over the years to include music, dance and masks. She has six self-published books of poetry and has created greeting cards with her poetry. In March of 2002 Marcia released her first CD of poetry with music entitled “Moon Magic''. She is dedicated to bringing poetry to the people and can be found performing in parks and outdoor events. She began taking classes at Path with Art in 2013.

My coming to terms with and feeling pride in being, bi-sexual, a feminist lesbian, and currently gender fluid (she / they) have been a process of self-discovery and personal empowerment. At Sonoma State College, in the late 70’s I began to explore my attraction to women and my androgynous gender fluid identity with my poem and performance of “Somewhere In-between” in a Jungian psychology class.

You can currently find Marcia out and about sharing her poetry at farmer markets, music festivals and open mikes. Her motto is “poetry for the people” and it's her purpose to heal the world with poetry. She also is a regular at Darrel’s Tavern Open Mike on Wednesdays blending her poetry with the rhythms of hip hop and jazz. My goal with poetry is to bring poetry alive. It is time to experience the original spirit of poetry with poetry and music that tell stories of freedom, hope of a better future and the celebration of life as an art form."
