ABOUT GLYNNIS REED!

Glynnis Reed is a queer neurodivergent artist motivated by art's capacity to build worlds and act as a potential healing and liberating force. Her artistic and scholarly activities weave together artmaking and writing practices, African spirituality, disability studies, and autoethnography to bring greater awareness of the value of the lives and contributions of intersectionally marginalized individuals to the field of art. An accomplished professional visual artist, she has exhibited her artwork widely in the U.S. and internationally. She is currently a dual title doctoral degree student in Art Education and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. Reed has two decades of experience as an art educator, working as a teaching artist, K-12 art teacher, museum educator, and university instructor. She is a co-editor and contributor to the edited collection, "BIPOC Alliances: Building Communities and Curricula," and author of the book "James Baldwin: Novelist and Critic."

The image has an abstract light blue, almost neon hue with some large cobalt blue polka dots strewn across horizontally. Splatters of green, blue and purple are on the left side of the polka dots, with some dark grey spots scattered above. At the top right and bottom left corner are some wavy white, purple, light & cobalt blue lines. At the very bottom are some bright green lily pads and pink lotuses.

At the top of the image is a blue bar with a white outline serving as a name tag. In the middle is a picture of the featured artist.

This photo shows the head and shoulders of Glynnis Reed, a brown skinned Black woman with long, side swept, straightened dark brown hair. She is wearing a yellow dress, a royal blue beaded necklace and a turquoise printed scarf. She is looking directly into the camera with a gentle smile.

Below that is a blue rectangle with a white outline with details about the artist. At the bottom right corner is a white text box that says, “Thank you to our funders and @forallthingsdigital for sponsoring.”
