Amicalola , 2023
60 x 54 in (h x w)
Oil paint on canvas

Artist Statement:
I went on a hike with my family to Amicalola Falls State Park in the winter of 2023. I grew up very sheltered and did not get to experience many national parks as a child. I made it my mission to take my joy seriously as an adult and try to incorporate more national park visits with my family. I wanted to portray an illustrative depiction of that experience, hence the bright oranges and blues.

ID:
A Large light cream and blue staircase sits in the middle of the piece. Two dark blue figures are floating towards the tip of the stairs. Large chunks of dark brown, light tan, and orange spots surround the staircase. The staircase shrinks into the background towards the top of the painting. The very top of the painting is a light sky blue. Large stripes of orange run vertically down the painting.
