Buttons and Cyanotype on watercolour paper

“Don’t touch please” is a series of cyanotype images showing impressions of the buttons left behind once exposed to the sunshine through the window at golden hour. The piece was made while recovering from surgery with her two young children at her feet. The haphazard textures and movement of the final images encapsulate the chaos and unpredictability of making art in motherhood. The cyanotype is a nod to childhood and old days of biscuit tins filled with buttons and sewing materials.
