The iconic poppers bottle gets a humorous reworking in this digital illustration. The humour helps de-stigmatise the word slut and is therefore more sex positive.
Working under the name iHeart Pop Art, I'm a self-taught digital artist who's heavily inspired by Andy Warhol's colourful aesthetic. My work isn't meant to be interpreted or have deeper meaning; it's meant to be enjoyed at face value. It's colourful, it's bold and it's often cheeky. By combining those aspects with familiar faces and phrases, the work is designed to make people smile.
As a gay cis male who also identifies somewhere on the demisexual spectrum, I grew up in Apartheid South Africa where homosexuality was illegal and there was absolutely no LGBTQ+ representation whatsoever - we didn't even have Queer as Folk! Now, in my mid-40s, I am slowly undoing that trauma in various ways, one of which is through my art, which I believe provides the much-needed validation and representation that the community needs, that I needed so desperately growing up, so that we can all experience life with pride!
