ARTIST BIO

Ceili Seipke is a Vermont-based visual artist, who grew up in Pennsylvania as the first child to be born in America to her Hungarian immigrant family and is a first-generation college student. She received a B.F.A. in Painting from Baylor University, but while raising three children and working as a full-time Behavioral Interventionist, she kept her artistic passions in the background. In 2019, Ceili reignited her creative spark, diving into imaginative photographic narratives and costume-making.

Her work, which includes ethereal portraiture and encaustic photography, captures timeless femininity with a touch of whimsy. Ceili’s art has been featured in online and local exhibitions, as well as in publications like Art Seen Magazine and Women United Art Movement Magazine. She was a finalist in the Photography & Printmaking category of the Women United ART PRIZE in both 2022 and 2023.

In March 2023, Ceili founded The Art Dames Society, a global support network for women creatives of all skill levels and mediums. Through this inclusive platform, she celebrates and champions the captivating voices of female-identifying artists worldwide.

ARTIST STATEMENT

While I explore various mediums in my art practice, photography is my constant companion. I specialize in magical realism portraiture, transporting viewers to captivating alternate worlds. Inspired by stories of enchanted realms and science fiction, my ethereal art blends storytelling and imagery, sparking imagination and evoking distant dreams.

This series focuses on ethereal women, capturing their captivating allure and mystical surroundings. These women embody timeless beauty and profound wisdom, with an “old soul” gaze and a subtle, knowing half-smile.

I present ethereal women in two ways. First, I capture as much as possible in-camera, posing my subjects in nature, cloaked in mist, sunlight, or twilight to enhance their ethereal quality. They often wear ensembles I've crafted, combining weightless fabrics with edgier, masculine footwear for grounding. Portraits are softened with software to evoke an entrancing atmosphere. Second, I use post-processing to composite images, creating an otherworldly feel with vibrant, unreal colors.

I aim to capture the delicate balance between the human form and the intangible world around us. Step into my world of ethereal portraiture and explore the magic within.
