Dongting Li, a 17-year-old high school student from Beijing, China, is defined by two passions: fencing and photography. Through fencing, he unleashes his aggression and fighting spirit, finding reward in the cheers and applause from the audience. Conversely, in photography, he embodies a quiet and gentle approach, focusing his lens on the unknown corners of life. His portfolio consists of five works, all centered on the pervasive feeling of loneliness within bustling cities. As the sun sets and leaves rustle, the flickering car lights illuminate a scene in which the individuals appear as isolated islands, disconnected from each other. While fencing is about triumphing over others, Dongting aspires for his photography to bring people together and convey shared emotions.
