Donald “C-Note” Hooker, the King of Prison Hip Hop, is an American prison artist renowned for his striking underground art. His Renaissance repertoire of themes including fashion and prison create powerful, visually compelling works. Featured in the 26th Annual "Works on Paper" exhibition, his mixed-media collage "The Mask of Fashion" critiques societal norms and personal identity through a fragmented, net-like pattern. Known for his prolific output, C-Note blends realism with conceptual art, challenging mainstream aesthetics. His bold, authentic expression, which extends from visual art to poetry and performance, has earned him international recognition. This virtual exhibition highlights five thought-provoking works, emphasizing his unique propensity towards fashion even in the most somber depictions.
