Born in Paris but based in New York City, Franco-American artist Jerome Lagarrigue graduated in 1996 from the Rhode School of Design with a major in illustration and then became professor of drawing and painting in Parsons School of Design. His art reflects on what humanity is all about through oversized portraits characterized by his distinctive brushstrokes and color tones.

Through the “Red Hook Sonata” painting series, Lagarrigue portrays the soul of the neighborhood where he has been living for almost fifteen years: Brooklyn.
