We call this the "Cusp" piece primarily because Pauline, Stuart sister (who held the baton for Stuart for decades) would explain whilst walking someone through an overview of Stuart's archive, this work as a work that represented a transition in Stuart's life - from Liverpool to Hamburg.  Stuart's earlier works were profoundly varied - and consisted of works for sculpture, architectural renderings, anatomy / life studies and impressionistic scenes of people living life.

Stuart rarely titled any of his paintings - which is the reason why it's difficult to attach names or titles to his artworks.  We have endeavored to capture the essence of Stuart here and have taken great care to read through his notebooks, letters, and essays to capture his sentiments and create titles for the artwork listed here.

While it is impossible to know exactly what he was thinking at the time he was creating these art works – we hope to give justice to the depth and breadth of the man, and the artist…who happened to be one of the founding members of a band called the Beatles.
