Living in Melbourne during Stage 4 lockdown (2020) is like living in an altered reality. We are disconnected from the outside world whilst at the same time being suffocated by our internal world. It has been a time of deep adjustment for us all, particularly for children. With none of her friends to play with my daughter, aged 8 years, creates her own unique world, sometimes becoming deeply immersed in her imagination, other times being weighed down by the fragility of an uncertain future. Here she is pictured with a heavy heart, waiting patiently to get back to school and back to her friends.
