In 1976 a group of Argentine generals assumed power establishing a fierce military dictatorship. In order to prevent any source of political instability, they persecuted, kidnapped and tortured more than 30, 000 leftist dissidents, mostly students, workers and professionals, before throwing them into the sea hundreds of kilometers offshore.
