"Climate change has grown into a large issue in the eyes of many. In the Caribbean particularly, it has restricted movement to our beaches because of the Sargassum issue. According to Dr. Chuanmin Hu who has studied Sargassum from 2006, the problem is ultimately related to climate change. The sargassum issue emerged upon heavy fertilizer use and deforestation around areas near the Sargasso Sea; activities linked to global warming. Using a compare-contrast method, my images highlight this issue impacting our mobility in navigating our beaches. In the first image, a mother and son enjoy the beach together; their favourite pastime. However, in the second image, we see how the sargassum outbreak hindered them from doing so and they are forced to return home in grave disappointment. The contrast of the 2 stories is telling of how climate change is linked to our mobility being restricted in our Caribbean context."
