The Witness Trees
This series of charcoal and graphite drawings are carefully rendered works drawn as if writing a story. Witness trees live in a dedicated place and observe the chaos of human life. In some instances, the trees themselves get co-opted into the drama. We know that trees are living, communal creatures supporting life in their communities, yet they often bear the scars of human civilization. The persistence of these living trees is a potent metaphor for not only survival but the ability to thrive.
