Twitter Concept Sketch , 2005

Twitter's origins trace to this sketch from 2005, when founder Jack Dorsey began floating his idea for a real-time, digital journal then called Stat.us. Inspired by how couriers, taxis, and emergency services would constantly share with each other their locations and activities, Jack sketched a basic platform – composed of a single typebar where users could type in their current status – to allow the public to do the same.
