About the image:
Admiralty Arch is a glorified barrier between two worlds. On this side, gentility royalty, with a palaces along The Mall overlooking St James Park. The other, a busy London with buses and busy tourists, shops, the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. You get the picture.

There's a sense of walking through a doorway to Narnia, as you walk through the dark archways and emerge from the gritty London to palatial tranquillity. Yes there is traffic, but the streets are noticeably are noticeably wider, and it's less intrusive, walking along the Mall from Buckingham Palace is a delightful route with Admiralty Arch looming ever taller in the distance.
