Quiet Isolation , 2020
12 x 16 in (h x w)
Acrylic over canvas
[29]

The reference for this piece was very difficult for me to sketch and I was on the verge of giving up. Then a brilliant thought in my head telling me just to do it my own way. I kept the cave opening from the reference and began to draw lines around it. I wanted to do something I normally I wouldn’t do, use dark colors. I wanted the isolated cave opening to be the brightest in this piece so I used blue. The darker colors spread outwards while the brightest colors are in the center. This is home to me because I like to have quiet time to myself and that’s how the piece got its name “Quiet Isolation.”
