As a local educator Carol’s passion was the sciences and art. Her future took an unforeseen turn when she was diagnosed with RP (Retinitis Pigmentosa), and faced a future of losing her eyesight. As a client at the Lighthouse of SWFL in Ft. Myers, and someone who likes to work with available (recycled) materials, her interest was sparked when hearing students clacking away on braille machines in the next room. Collecting discarded braille paper, gathering spray paint from the garage, and experimenting with rolling ink over the Braille, lots of surprises jumped out. Voila, “Vision in Braille” was born in an unexpected and satisfying journey!
