MAN RAY 2.0 (PUNK READY MADE) 2020
5400 GBP
Stainless steel, alluminium, tartan fabric, Historical Avant-garde 22 x 12 x 8 cm

With "MAN RAY 2.0 (PUNK READY MADE) I wanted to pay a visit to the past to meet one of the most celebrated icon of Historical ArtAvangarde: the eponymous Man Ray's "Cadeau". Manipulating and translating this famous work in another time and probing how the meaning, the conceptual strength and its visual features could travel and change in the British Punk Era (around the end of 70's). It is a work about time travelling: from one kind of Past (about 1 Century ago) to another one (about 50 years ago). From the handy improvisation of cast iron to the shining and polished industrial stainless steel. An archaeological evidence of Late Modern Archaeology and, from a different point of view, apparently a celebration of a precise aesthetically moment (the typical Punk style tartan). Science Fiction writers produce dystopian futures, I like to play (through a certain degree of dystopic attitude) with the "Contemporary Art Monuments".....
