Reflections from the Artist: "At times when I feel abandoned by my own self and folded into an overwhelming sense of
desolation., I feel emptiness as the meeting place where my identities come to rest. They are able
to drop their burdens and sit together. Their hands become detached as a way of being told that
they cannot carry whatever burdens they brought beyond this place. These meetings are a means
of revival. After each one, a shift occurs, and I am able to become a deeper version of myself."

Arit, located in Severn, Maryland, features herself in altered forms of existence and non-existence. She brings in the concepts of afro-frequency (the root of the black magical experience) and afro-futurism (the product of the black radical imagination). Her work is an ode to the fluidity and boundlessness of blackness. It
discusses what is possible when blackness is emancipated from societal restrictions and the imagination is liberated.
