Ich habe an dem Internationalen Blocktausch mit dem Ziel teilgenommen, meine Patchwork-Leidenschaft mit anderen QuilterInnen zu teilen. Als dann die Blöcke ankamen und ich die Arbeiten von Frauen aus anderen Ländern sah, mit ganz anderen Lebensstilen und so vielfältigen Interpretationen des gleichen Themas, war meine Freude riesengroß.
Als ich darüber nachdachte, wie ich die neun Blöcke zusammenfügen würde, gefiel mir die Idee einer großen runden Sonne, die die Blöcke vereinen würde.Dies möchteich gerne mit meiner Arbeit zeigen: Die Blöcke auf einer großen Sonne, die Sonnenstrahlen durch das Handquilten ausgedrückt und die Namen der Quilterinnen auf den Quilt gestickt.
Es war eine Freude, diese Erfahrung mit Euch zu teilen.

I participated in the International Block Swap with the aim to share with other quilters the passion I have for patchwork. When the blocks arrived and I saw the work by women from other countries, with life styles so very different compared to mine and ways to interpret the same theme in so diverse ways, the joy I felt was enormous. When I thought about how to join the nine blocks, I liked the idea of one big, round sun which would unify all the blocks. This is what I wanted to show in my work: The blocks on one big sun, the sunbeams reflected in the hand quilting and the names of the nine women embroidered onto the quilt. It was a pleasure to share this experience with you.
