I was inspired by the vivid colors used to create Calaveras and really wanted to create a colorful piece with a hint of spooky. As I was creating my piece I was reminded of the different designs and textures I would paint on my face for Dia De Los Muertos and that also influenced a lot of the colorful details on the Calavera such as the rose in the middle of the forehead. I was also inspired by sunflowers as they are one of my favorite flowers.
