"I was born into a society that has its roots in colonization, where land, institutions, and trade have been and continue to be built upon the oppression of many for the freedom of a few. The era when land ownership is equivalent to power has caused a fragmentation of indigenous ancestral tradition and in consequence we are witnessing the deep boot print that climate change has made on the inhabitants of our planet. Although fragmentation across generations and the wisdom of our ancestors slips between our fingers, mushrooms remind me to look inward ahead towards unity. When we are connected to each other, we are akin to a web of mycelium.

“Walk in the Forest” represents a connection with the inner self and the sensuous experience of existing within nature at a worm’s-eye-view.
The unique chaos of each one of us contains the light and unconditional love to transfer resources, information, and experience exponential growth. Together we witness the call to unify and a shift to synchronize with the rhythms of nature. How do we restructure the channel to allow ancestral wisdom to emanate through our embodied actions? It is up to each one of us to transform within ourselves.

15% of the painting sale proceeds will be a donation split between National Black Food & Justice Alliance (Black Land and Power Fund) and The Okra Project (Black Transgender Community Collective - Food and Mental Health Support), both Black led food sovereignty organizations.
