Pittore e scultore francese. Nella sua ricerca artistica si serve di una molteplicità di linguaggi per confrontarsi con lo spazio esterno attraverso l’installazione site-specific. Elemento ricorrente del suo lavoro è la presenza di strisce verticali di 8,7 cm, che utilizza per caratterizzare e ritmare lo spazio scelto per l’intervento.
Buren ha realizzato, durante la pandemia, una serie di interventi in situ per la Sala delle Capriate del Palazzo della Ragione di Bergamo. La mostra, curata da Lorenzo Giusti, è un segno di ripartenza per la cittadina lombarda, la più tragicamente colpita durante la prima ondata del virus. L’artista rilegge lo spazio dialogando con il grande passato della tradizione storico-artistica italiana, che viene trasfigurato e sublimato dal gioco dei suoi teli in fibra luminosa, ultimo esito della sua ricerca.

During the pandemic, Buren created a series of in situ interventions for the Sala delle Capriate of the Palazzo della Ragione in Bergamo.
