Marcenia Lyle "Toni" Stone
Born: July 17, 1921, Bluefield, WV
Died: November 2, 1996, Alameda, CA

In 1946, Toni Stone joined the San Francisco Sea Lions, making her the first female player to become part of the the Negro Leagues. By 1949, she was playing for the New Orleans Creoles and the New Orleans Black Pelicans. In 1953, at the age of 32, she joined the Indianapolis Clowns, replacing Hank Aaron at second base. Stone was inducted into the Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.Playwright Lydia R. Diamond was commissioned to write a play about Toni Stone, and the play titled “Toni Stone” premiered June 20, 2019, at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre in New York City.
