Fifty Eight , 2020
42 x 59.4 cm (h x w)
Pencil and gold leaf on paper

It is the picture of our times, the face half hidden with a mask. It is uncanny and troubling, but also beautiful, because partly hidden features always contain an element of mystery and the fascination of the imagined or unknown. But it is not only now that our faces are partly hidden. Many of us go through life with our eyes hidden, not wanting to see or not wanting to know.
