"Let's call him Assange (orphaned kestrel chick from HM Prison Belmarsh)" (2019). We didn't in the end, we named her Pippa, because someone told us she might be a peregrine. She wasn't, but even kestrels are unusual in the secret world of urban animal rescue, an amazing network of loosely affiliated volunteers who span the country, caring for the constant stream of animals that come their way: pigeons; ducks; mice; squirrels (illegal since 2019). No-one gets left behind. This image is from an on-going, long-term project, temporarily halted by lockdown.
