After a few days of heavy snow the roads became accessible to the Leadhills area in Central Scotland. I took the decision to visit this area that I have photographed before on many occasions. Although the snow conditions were excellent and required walking through some deep drifts at times, the light had been flat all morning until suddenly there appeared to be a break in the low cloud in the distance. Seeing it develop I quickly ploughed through the drifts to try and gain some height in order to open up this view looking down the valley towards the deserted old Shepherds cottage. I quickly set up just as the light started to filter through to hit the hillside and eventually after a little patience until it lit the cottage too. It was a special moment that unsurprisingly didn't last too long but one I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing and luckily managed to capture.
