trapped in , 2021
12 x 16 in (h x w)
acrylic on canvas

“trapped in” expresses how it feels when we remain within ourselves. When we experience these feelings, it’s hard to come to terms with who we are and how we want others to perceive us. Occasionally, we present ourselves outwardly to others to prove we are something we are not. When in reality, our true selves continue to linger behind the walls of our bodies. I want this piece to show the multiple steps to the journey of self acceptance. We get stuck, we feel empty and over time we embrace – then we overcome.
