"A scroll book is housed inside a broken coconut. Each side of the tapered scroll holds images of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The photographs were taken during vacations there from years past. The outside shows a brightly colored collage of precious memories, the inside reveals the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez overlain with text written in elegy lamenting the vacation that was planned, but will not happen this year. This is the year that the novel coronavirus Covid-19 brought the world to a halt. This year we will wait for the world to heal." -Erin K. Schmidt
