Both Crandle and Frightwig epitomize the unbridled creativity that is vital to a healthy democracy and which has characterized San Francisco for generations. “Why does a missile look like a cock?” Founded in 1982, Frightwig’s seminal, political, feminist, and critically thinking Punk pioneered the template for the Riot grrrl underground feminist Punk movement and has remained an influence on countless female bands, women and culture, contributing a much needed balance and in your face female perspective to male dominated arenas. Long time friend, fan and photographer and filmmaker Timothy Crandle’s dynamic video shot in 2019, captures the powerful energy that is Frightwig today.
