"The New York Times Magazine’s" design issue “The Shock of the Familiar” examines how design is inherent in all objects yet often invisible to the general public. The problem posed to six designers: Create a cover to express the issue’s theme. My solution, chosen by the editors: Objectify the magazine itself by placing the nameplate upside down, compelling readers to understand that the magazine itself is a designed object.
