"The Staten Island Ferry is a personal reference. As a kid in New York I would take the subway on my own to Battery Park, get on the Ferry for a nickel and eat a steaming hot dog with sauerkraut and mustard standing on the deck going by the statue. It was real freedom. The Statue is an international symbol of acceptance. Now, at a certain age, there's a lot of dark water and grey sky with texture but the Statue and the Ferry are razor sharp and almost still attainable."

The people I have sent to see the gallery are really loving the show. One said in an email "It gives me a welcome break from biting my nails."
