The Dancing Lion
Plain mask, plaster wrap, cotton balls, Acrylic paint, food colouring, hot glue gun, and masking tape, .

This art piece represents my individuality, as it embodies the customs of my cultural/ethnic Chinese background, where martial art dancers would wear this mask to celebrate Chinese News Year in a performance called The Lion Dance. In the performance, each of these 2-person costumes had their own designated colour palette which represented different things, such as yellow meaning good fortune. This particular mask was designed to fit the colour scheme of the Autumn season and temperament of Sanguine, both of which I identify myself with. The captivating 'fur' lined eyes of the lion were made from unraveled cotton balls that were secured in place with a hot glue gun, producing the focal point of The Dancing Lion.
