This image is part of a wider project titled The Hidden Beauty of Seeds and Fruits that presents specimens from the carpology collection of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Over a period of 6 months many thousands of specimens were inspected and just over one hundred specimens were selected and photographed in a temporary studio created in the herbarium. Due to their small size photo stacking techniques were required and so the final images were created from multiple pictures to achieve full focus. The project is a celebration of nature's ingenuity in the bid to reproduce and survive.
