Close to Long Knoll, Kilmington, near Gare Hill. A network of old lanes, byways and drover’s roads intersect the luxuriant, verdant late spring countryside. The knolls are ridges of chalk grassland, which mark the beginnings of the great chalk synclines of Southern England to follow, starting with Salisbury Plain, the Marlborough Downs, the North and South Downs and even the cliffs of Dover.

This digital photograph is actually made up of many different photographs. I felt it was important to capture the sheer, immensely satisfying volume of green and growth surrounding the path.
