Painting during lockdown has allowed me to create work in the studio based on plein air observations. Combined with my concern about the state of the planet and the situation with the pandemic these circular paintings have evolved.

The work requires the materials to freely blend, bleed and evolve within the surrounding black background and are based on the pallet and composition of the lanes and byways. When executed in this a certain way the impression is of planet Earth hanging in space.

The thought in my mind is that through observing the natural patterns and processes we hope to come more in tune with our world and with each other as a single race by understanding how transient yet universally connected things are. The circular planet paintings are really the next step in attempting to encapsulate all within the whole.
