The work is inspired by the idea of spiritual journeys or pilgrimages in the landscape. The paths offer freedom and/or redemption. The work focuses on unseen elements of place in the landscape such as energy currents or leylines. There is also a correlation here with indigenous Australian ideas of songlines and a connection with the land that transcends time. The black tree shapes almost look like ancient symbols or text and although directly related to a path on the Bronze age camp it also resembles a planet, star or moon.
