Throughout my experience with MiHC and this internship, I was able to strengthen some of the abilities I currently had. For my project, I decided to paint something very symbolic to me. Which is the importance of unity and working as a team. Throughout this internship, I was able to hear many stories of older students who might’ve gone through the same thing I have. They all related at the end where they all agreed that roots are important and it is important to not forget them. Those roots have to follow us wherever we go. We must be proud of them. Whomever we may be around we have to embrace who we are. We shouldn’t change to be what is considered society’s norm. In fact, we should unite and change society’s norms. My painting represents unity and flourishment. Those roots that are embedded in our lives, make us who we are, and it’s perfectly fine to be “different”.
