This portrait by Paredes of French novelist Marcel Proust is a unique and endearing homage to the revered writer and critic.

Simon Paredes is an emerging artist working in coloured pencil on paper, often integrating Prismacolor pencil on paper. His bold, simplified forms and choice of subject matter features architecture, domestic objects, retro pop culture products, and people on small-format paper. His playful interpretation of product designs—slightly wonky isolated on white backgrounds—are notable, as are his abstract works which have a fluid quality about them.

Paredes has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2014. He has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions including Wangaratta Art Gallery and Arts
