Persian cloth

© Zory Shahrokhi

The swallows in ‘Flying’ are made from the cloth sent to the artist by her family and friends in Iran since she left her native country. The whole installation, comprising more than 50 birds, was exhibited at Ben Uri Gallery in 'Unexpected: continuing narratives of identity and migration' in 2016. The single swallow was exhibited at Christie's South Kensington, later in 2016, as part of '100 for 100: Ben Uri - Past, Present & Future'.
