Galaxy and Earth
Chalk Pastels, pen and metallic markers

My artwork relates to the theme of racism and the quote explains how prejudice can harm the lives of many. In my artwork, I was expressing the past, present and future which to me is represented by space or the galaxy. The process of my art started with finding a quote which I thought reflected the book, “All Because You Matter.” By Tami Charles. The quote I chose by Maya Angelou reflected the book's message well. The next step was sketching and planning in my head what I was going to do and drawing rough lines to outline the galaxy, the earth and the planets. I then coloured the planets with pens to create the lined effect and I coloured the background with chalk pastels. The last step was to use the metallic marker to write the words and then draw the outline between the galaxy and earth.
