Freedom
watercolour paints, Crayons, pencil crayons, drawing, Markers

My creative motivation for this art piece was for it to draw attention and relight the flame that has dimmed on racism towards the Afro-Cannadian community. Racism is very much blanketed in Canada as this country does not like to take accountability for the fact that racism is just as prominent in Canada as it is in any other country. Countless Afro-Cannadian lives are affected by this racial pandemic daily, in both professional and social aspects. By being denied professional opportunities and ¨pointed out¨ in social settings, racism is very much present and as a society is something we can no longer deny. The handcuffs and rope represent how methods of enslavement may have changed, but are still very prominent to this day. The hands holding signs reference the many protests that have occurred fighting for equality. Lastly, the ¨Freedom¨ dripping red represents the unlawful bloodshed of blacks globally.
