The Five Stages in Three
pencil crayons, Sharpie

My work captures the five phases of anguish that are perceived to be: refusal/stun, bargaining, outrage, melancholy, and acceptance. This mainly showcases how the Black community, and everyone who stands by supporting Black lives is feeling because of those whose lives have been taken. This first piece of my work incorporates shock, refusal, rethinking of what could’ve happened, and anger. However, the second piece is all about justice and melancholy, saying their names and putting an end to this. Ultimately, the third piece demonstrates acceptance and moving on, however a large number of us as of now have done that in the second piece, and still a few pupils are giving up on getting equity and considering this a "trend".
