Reshaping Nature
Watercolours and Collage

Watercolour was a new medium for me. I had various struggles working with the paint but despite the challenges, the piece turned out to be just as I pictured. The tree stump illustrates the numerous cases of deforestation. Over-cutting our forests down, we are slowly but surely killing the environment since trees benefit and aid with preventing numerous threats. The main message is in regards to the over-purchasing of vast amounts of land for building infrastructure. Intensive urban growth can lead to poverty, additional air pollution created with concentrated use of energy, loss of habitats and food sources for animals, etc. The footprint-like organic shape used for the landscape, symbolizes our ecological footprint, to address that possessing large ecological footprints damages the environment creating a harmful effect getting stronger with each increasing size of our footprint. I desire to remind people of the once natural fresh and healthy environments and what we are doing to them.
