Your Best American Girl
Graphite on paper

This artwork was heavily inspired by the song “Your Best American Girl,” by the musician Mitski. I wanted to create a piece that illustrated societal beauty standards for South Asian women and how it affects us daily. The cracks on one side represent how south Asian women are seen as undesirable, while the other side is the perfect, beauty standard. This piece is in honour of Asian heritage month that took place in May.
